Seafood Europe represents 16 National Associations from 10 Member States and 2 Third countries (UK, Norway). It accounts for more than 3,900 enterprises and 128,000 persons (more than 80% representativeness at EU level). The value of the output of the industry represented by Seafood Europe amounts to around EUR 34 billion.

Trade

All trade-related agenda in AIPCE-CEP is handled by the Trade Working Group. The main areas covered by this WG:

  • Contribute and be updated on current trade relations/negotiations and FTAs (keep contact with DG Trade)
  • BREXIT negotiations and the position of EU Fish processors and traders’ industry
  • Close monitoring of IUU procedure with non-cooperating countries
  • Ongoing monitoring of ATQs implementation M
  • Marketing Standards

Objectives

  • Improve access to supply through ATQ system and follow-up of tariff issues.
  • Evaluation of market trends and balance of supply/demand.
  • Contribution to trade negotiations, follow-up of trade agreements, analysis of trade barriers/restrictions (e.g. sanitary requirements, IUU bans).

Food Law

All regulatory developments and labelling-related issues are handled by AIPCE-CEP Food Law and Labelling Working Group. The main areas that are currently under discussion:

  • Analysis of current labelling requirements for fishery products,
  • Audit project for traceability and labelling of fishery products.
  • Monitoring and coordination of key topics for fishery products.
  • Contribute to regulations that concern fish industry and keep regular contact with DG SANTE

    Sustainability

    All sustainability and corporate social responsibility issues related to the industry are handled by AIPCE-CEP Sustainability Working Group. The main areas that are currently under discussion:

    • Industry responsible approach to sustainable sourcing and processing.
    • Provide platform for coordination of representation in Advisory Councils, ensure AIPCE-CEP – ensure AIPCE-CEP presence in order to convey our views with streamlined messages.
    • Monitor on implementation of Control and IUU regulations.
    • Closely follow developments in the Marketing Advisory Council.

    Objectives

    • Improvement of communication on industry commitment to environmental and social responsibility and traceability.
    • Proactive Reputation building: to communicate positively on industry achievements.
